May I take this opportunity to inform you that a Festschrift volume is planned to be published by a reputed publisher with an ISBN in Honor of Professor V.P. Khare, DLIS, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (U.P.) for his remarkable contributions to the profession on eve of his superannuation on 30th June 2018.
Prof. V.P. Khare is a well-known name in the Indian LIS Fraternity. He has put in 33 years of dedicated service in this field. Where ever he worked he put his heart and soul for the development of the organization. He started his career from Central Library of IIT, Powai, Mumbai in 1979 where he organized a Reference Library of American Society for Metals – India Chapter, Mumbai in 1982. After working there for six years he joined as Documentation Officer at Central Library of Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 1985. In his very short tenure there, of only one year, he established a Documentation Centre in the University. He then joined Dept. of Library and Information Science, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi in 1986. He has been the founder and first Head of the Department. He has strived hard to establish the Department and nurtured it to attain its present status of a well known LIS Department in India.
His contributions are not limited to LIS; he is also passionate about art literature and music. He is a melodious singer and also a polyglot, having knowledge of English, German, Hindi, Kannad, Marathi, Urdu and Sanskrit. To say the least, Prof. V.P. Khare is a multi-talented, energetic and dynamic personality.
The theme of the Festschrift volume is “Emerging Trends for SMART Libraries”. The sub-themes include:
